odd本身是“奇怪的，奇数”意思，加了s后odds就变成完全不同的词义，指“可能性，几率，胜算”，可指事情发生的可能性，也可指打赌时用数字表示的机会、可能性。

The odds are 5 to 1 that she will win.

His odds are very poor after he sprained his wrist.
